USAID/Jordan Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project (SCHEP)
The USAID/Jordan Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project (SCHEP) activity, was a 10-year project (2014-2024) that aimed to provide effective and sustainable preservation, management and development of Cultural Heritage Resources (CHR) in Jordan. The project provided a model for the connection of cultural preservation, community engagement, and tourism development. SCHEP worked to expand community engagement in heritage and tourism activities in Jordan, supporting and growing the number and quality of partners in this effort, and training and supporting the governmental entities ultimately responsible. The program focused on providing greater access to tourism/heritage information by supporting the government in its efforts to advance.
